Student Project Funding Criteria

Rationale

  • Student autonomy and participation, being important elements of hall education, are of utmost importance to the success of the HED Project.
  • By funding and supporting student projects, students can be encouraged to be involved in the organization process, and therefore be benefited.
  • HEDO would support student projects by providing resources and administrative support, especially before they are launched.

Application Procedures

  • Complete & submit an application form, together with a project proposal and financial budget to hedo@hku.hk.
  • The proposal should contain:
    • A description of the objective(s) of the project;
    • A description of the educational value(s) of the project;
    • An explanation of how the project can achieve its aim(s);
    • An explanation of how the project meets the subsidizing criteria listed below;
    • A detailed description of all parts of the project;
  • The final submission date of each round application is the 20th day of each month.
  • After application approvals are done, on a monthly basis, selected applicants will be interviewed by the Committee.

Subsidizing Criteria

  • Educational value
  • Connectedness to the society
    • Extent of societal participation
    • Relevance of the project theme to the society
    • Contribution to the society
  • Number of participants
  • Amount of publicity
  • Intrinsic attractiveness of the project
  • Effectiveness and feasibility of the project
  • Impact on the hall community, like cooperation between halls and sharing of experiences

Subsidizing Mechanism

  • The progress of the projects will be monitored by the Committee.
  • Support and funding will be provided in phases upon satisfactory progress.
